Make sure you have booked a pet-friendly hotel and that you’ve informed them in advance of your arrival. Resorts with lawns or beaches are the best idea, giving your pet the freedom to roam around. Plan your itinerary in advance so that you and your pet don’t have to face any rude surprises, but always have a back-up plan in case you do. Be calm and firm with your pet, and if you manage to get through the first trip okay, you’ll find that they can make really good travel companions.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has a helpdesk by Pet Fly, a pet-relocation service, to assist passengers travelling with animals. Details are below.
Those who’ve travelled with pets know it’s not the easiest of tasks. Days of research, preparation, documentation and early check-ins for what eventually may be just a three-hour flight. Now, there’s help at hand if you’re flying out of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
Pet Fly, a pet relocation service, has set up a helpdesk at the airport to assist passengers travelling with animals. The staff will look after the animal, help with clearance from customs and the airline, and accompany the pet to the aircraft where they will ensure it is safe and ready to fly. With prior intimation, it will also organise supplementary material needed for the journey, such as vaccinations, documents, ticket bookings and kennels/cages. Pet Fly confirmed that this facility is available for all pets, including dogs, cats, mice and even snakes!
The pet helpdesk is located near Gate 6 of Terminal 3 at the IGIA. For further details about their services, visit www.petfly.in or call +91-11-24113000 / +91-11-24113100.
